Azam Karami, led the presentation of their advanced product “Automatic Fault Detection in Power Transmission Lines” (AFTL) at the contest. This user-friendly, web-based software employs deep learning techniques to detect over 80 types of electrical, mechanical, and foundation-related defects in power transmission lines using high-resolution drone imagery. Developed over several years with significant expertise, the AFTL system significantly improves inspection accuracy and speed while reducing costs and risks, enabling power companies to maintain critical infrastructure more efficiently and reliably.

The award ceremony took place on October 18, 2024, in Moscow, where winners from over 30 countries were celebrated for their exceptional contributions across multiple categories including Information Technology, Education, Health, and Ecology. The recognition of Azam’s work in the AI category underscores both her pioneering leadership and the growing impact of AI technology in vital industries.
